Latest2009-10-15 UpdateHere is another update of what has been happening in the past week. The big event is I got a flat tire. Neighbor and obsessionMy hung over bi-sexual neighbor finally moved out. I always got the feeling she did not like me. I get the feeling a lot of women do not. There must be something in the X chromosome. Still DepressedThese days I am pretty depressed. I was laid off, and now my severance has run out. I have not done as much studying as I should have done. I also missed a call for confirming unemployment. So I have to compile my job search records if I want to call them. Still AliveI am still alive (not that I have many readers). I Left The City That Matters in a HybridI try to keep posts about one topic, but this time I will not succeed. Two topics come together in this one: skepticism/atheism and hybrids. I finally left Chicago, The City That Matters, for the first time since 2008-08-10, and I went out to see some skeptics in a Prius. Make your own travel mapI read about an interesting project on the web that will create a map of the USA highlighting which states you have been in. The project is by a Dutch programmer named Douwe Osinga, and the page to create your map is here. I found out about this via Atheist Revolution. You can also create maps for the whole world and states in India. This guy works for Google, and right now he is in India. Out Of the LoopMy employer (whom I shall refer to as "Megabux Corporation") is moving people around amongst its buildings in Chicago (The City That Matters). They recently acquired the American subsidiary of a Dutch company (which I think was called "Megaboox Groep NV"), who had their main building on LaSalle Street. They are moving a lot of us to a building near Union Station outside of the Loop. So now I will get to see even MORE conformist suburbanites every day. Fund URLsKeeping the Car For NowI took my car to MidCity Nissan, and they said the "Check Engine" light codes were from several trips ago. They looked at everything, and all the relevant valves were fine. They also said that if the light came on they would check it for free. So they charged me $132, but they saved me the $1600.00 that Pep Boys would have charged me. Cha-ching! Still my car may just sit for a while. I do not think I will be going anywhere for a while.
I May Keep My Car After AllI had planned on getting rid of my car, but now I might wind up keeping it. I took it to Pep Boys, and they said that repairing it would cost $1600. I thought that I would be able to use the $3000 or so that I would save to buy stocks and save the world from financial collapse. Well, the world might be waiting. But Mid City Nissan in Chicago (The City That Matters) might get a payday. |
