Upcoming Plans

I was planning on posting some of my comments on blog postings that I left on other sites. I have decided that I will skip that. I have been putting off posting more recent thoughts. So soon I will write about some more recent thoughts.

2009-10-15 Update

Here is another update of what has been happening in the past week. The big event is I got a flat tire.

Update 2009-10-03

I have not been posting as much as I have been intending. I will give some updates on what has been going on.

Podcast and Al Franken

I have been listening to a news podcast called The Takeaway. I get the rss feed, and let the files build up until there is enough to fill up a DVD, so I am a bit behind. I am listening to the programs from early July. A couple of days ago I listened to one with a few segments about Al Franken.

2009-09-24 Updates

I thought I would give some updates on what is going on.

Update and Some Site Plans

Last weekend, I was far far outside of Chicago, The City That Matters, for a few days. I was offered a job in a small town, and I went to check out the town. I will probably not take it. It is a really small city, pretty far from Chicago and Saint Louis.

New Domain Name Coming

The name of this site may soon be changing. I like the name "Blue Nine," but it was not my first choice. I liked it because it is a name that would not limit me to one topic.

Update on Health Insurance

I signed up for COBRA yesterday. It turns out I misinterpreted the information I got in the mail. The subsidy covers 65% of the cost and I only pay 35%. The subsidy lasts for nine months, and COBRA coverage lasts for eighteen months. The proper cost table is below.

Calculating Health Insurance Costs

Like many people, I had health insurance through my employer. I was recently laid off from Megabux Corporation, and got a few months of severance. The severance also included my health benefits.

Stops Along the Journey (from Atheist Revolution)

Here are a few comments I posted in response to a post on Atheist Revolution. Vjack, the author of Atheist Revolution, has since stopped using Haloscan for comments and now uses Intense Debate. I guess Google does not allow comments. (Now vjack requires an Intense Debate account to comment. I may or may not get one.) Anyway, some of this may not be too clear since I am trying to reconstruct my thoughts from a few fragments posted a year earlier. I should probably get into the habit of expanding on my comments here when I post something. Hopefully I will work through the backlog soon.
